With Apple’s developer conference kicking in less than twenty-four hours from now, and with the confirmation that Apple will to unveil iOS 6, a bunch of iOS 6 beta links have just dropped.

Chinese forum WeiPhone has published a full list of links hosted on Apple’s developer resources website pointing to iOS 6 beta .dmg and .zip files for a variety of devices. Obviously the links are not working, but interestingly instead of a ‘url not found’ error the website simply points to an expired session, i.e. this could be the real thing.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you would know that Apple’s annual developer conference WWDC 2012 is due next week. There have been a ton of rumors including new thinner and retina display MacBook Pros, Ivy Bridge donned MacBook Airs, refreshed iMacs and even, finally, a refreshed Mac Pro desktop, but make no mistake WWDC is all about software.

The event will certainly see the official unveiling of OS X Mountain Lion, Apple’s desktop/laptop operating system. Last year we got OS X Lion at WWDC 2011 and we wouldn’t expect anything less this year. Many of the features of OS X Mountain Lion are already known thanks to a number of developer releases. You can expect an even more iOS’ified experience with the new Notification Center, iMessaging, Game Center and Airplay Mirroring.

The $35 (£22) Raspberry Pi ARM-based Linux computer has had a roller-coaster ride since it was released. The single-board computer completely sold out in a matter of minutes on February 29th when it hit Premier Farnell and RS Components, two mail-order electronics distributors, and brought both their websites to their knees.

However the Raspberry Pi never actually shipped to expecting DYIers. First, manufacturing had hit a snag, with the Chinese factory producing the boards having soldered-in the wrong type of ethernet jack. Then the two retailers refused to fulfill any orders until the Pi completed CE certification. CE compliance is required for electronics shipping in the European Union, which the Raspberry Pi Foundation was initially hoping to bypass it, since their device could be considered an unfinished product.

The Raspberry Pi foundation began selling its ARM-based $35 Linux computer at 6am GMT today through two UK mail order electronic distributors, but initial demand was so high that brought the websites to their knees while the system quickly sold out.

The Raspberry Pi computer is the size of a deck of cards and is made up of a 700MHz ARM11 CPU with 256MB of RAM, SD card storage, a USB port and HDMI, audio and RCA video outputs. The system boots Fedora Linux from the SD card and connects to a TV and a keyboard for a pretty standard computing experience.

Motorola RAZR Developer Edition gives you an unloackable bootloader in exchange for any warranty

Motorola RAZR Developer Edition front and back

So what do you do after you’ve released a slightly modified version of a popular smartphone that adds just 1.8mm to its waistline but practically doubles battery life? The answer here is, you re-release the original device as a Developer Edition.

The story is that Motorola has just announced a new variant of its skinny RAZR handset, the Motorola RAZR XT910 Developer Edition. The device is identical to the original GSM Motorola RAZR but has an unlocked bootloader, making it easier to load custom ROMs and generally mod the device. The original RAZR, as most other Motorola devices, is locked down. There is a caveat however, and that is, these developer devices come without any warranty, which is a bit cruel if you ask us; after all, yes you can screw up the software and brick your phone but Motorola should still be liable for hardware faults.

Actionbar phone and tablet on Android Ice Cream Sandwich

We’re expecting the next version of Android, code-named Ice Cream Sandwich, to come soon. Android versions have diverged, with Android 2.3 Gingerbread running on smartphones and 3.0 Honeycomb running on tablets; ICS is expected to unify the Android system again and will allow the same version of Android to run on all devices, independent of size and resolution.

As the official unveiling comes closer, the precise date still remains unknown, more information is coming out of Google’s headquarters. A post on the official Android Developers’ blog, aimed at helping developers in preparing their tablet friendly Honeycomb apps to work on smartphones with Ice Cream Sandwich, brings us a few interesting bits of information.
