Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Note could be heading to Verizon and Sprint as the Galaxy Journal

Samsung Galaxy Note, taking notes

Take this with a grain of salt: an LA industry analyst is claiming that Samsung’s oversized smartphone will be heading to Verizon and Sprint, probably under the name Galaxy Journal. The 5.3-inch stylus-friendly Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone/tablet finally made it to North American shores last week with a big appearance at CES. The device is now confirmed to be released soon on AT&T, though no information was given on availability on other carriers.

The Galaxy Note is currently GSM only, so an initial AT&T release makes sense, but a CDMA/LTE version could be in the works so that the device can be launched on both Verizon and Sprint. Despite being the largest smartphone to date, Samsung had shipped over one million Galaxy Note units last year.

The Galaxy Note has 5.3-inch Super AMOLED 720p HD screen with a dual-core 1.4GHz Samsung Exynos processor powered by a decently sized 2,500mAh battery. The device does indeed challenge anyone’s perception of a phone, it is a really big device weighing 178g (6.3 oz). To convert people to believers, Samsung has included a Wacom-designed pressure sensitive S Pen stylus, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front and other nice features like GLONASS support.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus to become Sprint’s first 4G LTE handset

Sprint 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Nexus ad

Talk about a trigger happy day, first we get a Nikon D4 leak, then the Fujifilm X-Pro1 camera leak and now somebody pushed the button on Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE ad a little too early — full review of the Galaxy Nexus here.

The 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone has appeared in a flash ad on CNET’s website and the people over at Engadget managed to snap up a few screenshots of the ad before it disappeared. It’s interesting to note that in the advertisement, the smartphone’s TI OMAP 4460 processor is shown to be clocked at its maximum 1.5GHz rather than the battery saving 1.2GHz as in the Verizon LTE and HSPA+ versions.

The Galaxy Nexus will become Sprint’s first LTE handset as the carrier will turn on the lights to its 4G LTE network in the first half of the year. Having the LTE network as prerequisite, don’t expect the Sprint Galaxy Nexus in the following few months.

Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch on Sprint – applications

Guess what happens when you wander around online training manuals just before an evening of new product announcements. Well, you stumble on one of these new and still announced products. A tipster has sent us screen shots and detailed product specs of a very juicy new handset heading over to Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch.

Samsung is not toying around with Epic 4G Touch. The new smartphone has huge 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus Gorilla Glass screen while staying super-thin at 9.59mm and weighing 4.09 oz. The Epic 4G Touch runs a dual-core 1.2GHz Samsung Exnyos C210 processor — same as the original SGSII — and will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The phone will run on Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network and have an 8.0-megapixel rear-facing and 2.0-megapixel front-facing cameras. Samsung is loading the phone with its Media and Social Hubs.

Sprint advises employees not to discuss the iPhone 5

Sprint notice to employees about upcoming iPhone 5

The first rule of selling the iPhone 5, is not to discuss selling the iPhone 5. Sprint has advised its dealers not to discuss potential future availability of Apple’s next iPhone on Sprint. This has come following a WSJ publication stating that Sprint would be getting the iPhone 5 in mid-October. AT&T and Verizon will also begin offering the iPhone 5 in mid-October and Sprint is said to begin carrying the iPhone 4 as well, starting from that time.

Verizon began selling the iPhone in February this year and Apple loving Sprint customers have been getting mixed signals as to if and when Sprint will begin offering the iPhone. The recent internal memo to employees doesn’t give much information except that employees shouldn’t discuss any iPhone availability on Sprint but can acknowledge seeing the news reports. However the memo also doesn’t instruct employees to deny any of rumors; is non-denial a confirmation? Well October is not far off
