MSI Afterburner graphics card overclocking and monitoring Android app

Modders rejoice! MSI has demoed, at Computex 2011, an Android version of it’s ‘Afreburner’ graphics card over-clocking utility. The app, which should run on most Android phones and tablets, allows you to connect to your PC running Afterburner via Wi-Fi and over-clock your computer’s graphics card to your heart’s desire.

The app will allow you to over-lock and over-voltage an MSI graphics card from your Android device while giving you some useful up-to-the-minute stats such as GPU temperature and usage using your device’s real estate.

Apple WWDC11 - iOS 5, Mac OS X Lion and iCloud to be unveiled

We are used to Apple being very secretive about new products and services, keeping everything in the shadows until a big media event. So the first surprise to come in anticipation of this year’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, being held on June 6-10, is Apple formally putting out a press release announcing iCloud prior to the event’s keynote speech.

The new Nook – adding touch and staying simple?

Well if you would have us guess what the new device to be announced today by Barnes & Noble would be, then we would say a refresh of the original E-Ink Nook.

The Nook Color seems to be selling well and the 1.2 update, which brought curated app support, has only been released a few weeks ago. On the other hand the original Nook is starting to show it’s age and there are definitely proponents of the advantages of E-Ink for a dedicated e-Reader device. B&N is a book retailer after all, so although the Nook Color is breaking new ground for the company, it can’t really forget about it’s bread and butter business.

Zune / Windows Phone 7 music player for Android

We love the Zune’s stylish, flashy and efficient music player user interface which, by not simple luck, has been inherited by Windows Phone 7. Official Zune development might or might not have stopped, nevertheless it’s created something bigger and also quite a following. So, when we found out that it’s been ported into an Android music player we were pretty excited.

The application comes from LauncherPro’s developer, and although it’s still quite an early alpha build, we’ve taken it through its paces and its pretty smooth and really close both functionally and visually to the original.

UPDATE 1: Zune/WP7 styled music player shown running on Nook Color, images after the link.

UPDATE 2: Alpha 3 just released with many bug fixes and new features, link for download after the break.

UPDATE 3: Alpha 4 now out with widget support and playlist creation, link for download after the break.

Well it’s something we’ve been expecting for some time now, and finally Google is launching Google Talk with video and voice chat for Android phones. B&N Nook Color - 1.2 Update bringing Android Froyo, apps, email and new features

Well The long wait for Nook Color owners seems to be over. Barnes & Noble’s popular e-reader has finally been updated to Android 2.2 (‘Froyo’) while at the same time users can for the first time install apps without having to resort to rooting their device.

When we initially reviewed the Nook Color, the update was still in the works; nonetheless we thought it had great potential as a well-designed budget Android tablet. However, the $250 device is still not getting full Android Market access, but rather its own app store with applications having to first be approved by B&N for inclusion. This means that you will not find every obscure Android app out there, actually the catalogue right now is quite limited with no Facebook app or any of the standard Google apps like Maps, but available apps should increase over time.

Amazon’s Appstore for Android is now live and open for business. Angry Birds Rio is joining Amazon for the launch and it’s free to download for the rest of today (normally $0.99).
