With Apple’s developer conference kicking in less than twenty-four hours from now, and with the confirmation that Apple will to unveil iOS 6, a bunch of iOS 6 beta links have just dropped.

Chinese forum WeiPhone has published a full list of links hosted on Apple’s developer resources website pointing to iOS 6 beta .dmg and .zip files for a variety of devices. Obviously the links are not working, but interestingly instead of a ‘url not found’ error the website simply points to an expired session, i.e. this could be the real thing.

Jarre Technologies AeroPad Two iPad speaker dock in bamboo

It’s pretty hard to get excited about an iPod, iPhone and iPad speaker dock anymore but this one is special, as special as the man who is behind the company that makes them.

The AeroPad Two is a massive 86 x 30 cm (33.9 x 11.8 inches) machine that can pump out your tunes through four 30-watt speakers, with the speakers in each pair positioned across each other, and an 80-watt subwoofer; that’s a lot of air-moving power!

It has a 30-pin dock connector and enough space to dock your iPad, or otherwise it would be willing to dwarf your iPod, iPod Touch and iPhone.

Zooey Deschanel in iPhone 4S Siri commercial

Apple marketing campaigns have included dancing figures and loads of product shots with catchy tunes in the background, but have been light on celebrity clout. Well the two latest Siri ads that have just aired have certainly upped the ante, featuring Zooey Deschanel and Samuel L. Jackson.

Good fits for Apple? We think so. The two Hollywood stars are seen having intimate conversations with their iPhone 4S and the phone’s Siri digital assistant in their own unique relaxed coolness.

The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire, in 2011. iPad drawing printed on paper by David Hockney

David Hockney is one of the most influential contemporary British artists. Born in 1937, with a career spanning more than 50 years, he has relentlessly acquired mastery in a number of media. David Hockney has made paintings, drawings, lithographic and etching prints, designed stage sets and worked with photography and photocollage. In his long, and successful, career he has also always embraced new technologies. David Hockney’s latest exhibition, titled ‘A Bigger Picture’ and running between January 21st and April 9th 2012 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London is a testament to this.

The exhibition is devoted to landscapes and includes more than 150 works by the artist, most of which were created in the last decade while many are massive in size. The vivid works were inspired by Hockney’s native Yorkshire. After Hockney’s 30 year long stay in California and Los Angeles, where he created his famous paintings portraying alluring poolside scenes he returned to his home country and has been based in Bridlington, a small seaside town in east Yorkshire, around 65 miles from Bradford where the artist was born. The exhibition includes oil paintings, watercolors and more than 50 drawings created on an iPad and then printed onto paper. There are also a number of videos created for the exhibition.

iOS 5 Notification Center

All those with an iPhone 4S or iOS 5 upgradable devices, like the iPhone 4 or iPad, waiting to break the bonds from their computers and permanently jailbreak their device get a small glimpse of hope today. A ‘developer’ (or should we say hacker), @pod2g, has tweeted that a bug in iOS 5 could finally allow untethered jailbreaking.

Currently, if you have a jailbroken iOS 5 device, you need to connect it to a computer every time you restart in order for the device to start properly. A huge hassle. The developer warns though, that the exploit might not come soon, but we are crossing our fingers here. As the late Steve Jobs said, it’s the developer and hacking community that has always realized the true potential of technology.

Is your iPhone 4S or iOS 5 updated iPhone suffering from short battery life? Apple is looking into it

iPhone low battery level

Although not yet up to ‘battery-gate’ status, a lot of antagonized iPhone 4S owners are complaining of very poor battery lives. You only need to take a look over at Apple’s Support Communities and you will find a host of threads with issues related to fast battery drain under standby and short battery lives. There are also some iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS owners who have upgraded to iOS 5 and are also facing similar issues, so this might not be an issue with the iPhone 4S hardware but rather an issue with the new iOS 5 operating system.

iTunes 10.5 up for download, becomes part of iCloud, paves the way for iOS 5 and iTunes Match

iTunes 10.5 becomes part of iCloud

The latest update for iTunes is now available for download, and it should make iTunes fans very happy, especially those anxious to update their iOS device(s) (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) to iOS 5 tomorrow.

Version 10.5 brings Wi-Fi syncing for all iOS devices and iTunes in the Cloud, which means that all your Apple Store music and video purchases will be available on all your computers running iTunes. Most importantly the latest update paves the way for iOS 5; if you want to update your device starting tomorrow, you must be running the latest version of iTunes to do so, so our advice is to get downloading.

Finally the update should allow you future access to Apple’s $25 a year iTunes Match service, coming by the end of the month. iTunes will scan your library and give you access to high quality copies of your local music stored in Apple’s servers, accessible anywhere.

If you already have iTunes installed, click on “Check for Updates” within iTunes or the ‘Apple’ logo and “Software Update” on a Mac. You can also get it from this link.

Just a heads-up, that tomorrow is a big day for Apple related services and software with the, as mentioned, release of iOS 5, iCloud and an update to OS X Lion 10.7.2.

Tim Cook to unveil iPhone 5 at Apple event on October 4, say sources

Tim Cook

AllThingsD is reporting that Apple will hold a big media event on the 4th of October to announce nothing less but the next version of the iPhone. Apple’s new CEO, Tim Cook, is said to take the stage and present the iPhone 5 to the world. This certainly confirms the timing we’ve reported previously for the launch. Other rumors suggest that Apple might not have just one, but two smartphones in the pipeline; the second being a souped up version of the current iPhone, named the iPhone 4S.

Now what will the iPhone 5 look like? Well, everything is pointing out to a larger, thinner device, hosting a larger display, measuring 4-inches.

So, start the clock. Just two weeks left to go.

Internal memo: iPhone 5 launch on Best Buy first week of October

BGR has received and internal document from a source claiming to be a Best Buy insider detailing preparatory work for an iPhone 5 launch in the first week of October. The document also mentions the iPhone 5 launching for Sprint, though if you ask anyone from Sprint we’re sure they would not want to talk about it. The “leaked” document also suggests a pre-order period, which would mean that the iPhone 5 will be announced very shortly, although Apple hasn’t yet sent invites for the usual launch event.

Sprint advises employees not to discuss the iPhone 5

Sprint notice to employees about upcoming iPhone 5

The first rule of selling the iPhone 5, is not to discuss selling the iPhone 5. Sprint has advised its dealers not to discuss potential future availability of Apple’s next iPhone on Sprint. This has come following a WSJ publication stating that Sprint would be getting the iPhone 5 in mid-October. AT&T and Verizon will also begin offering the iPhone 5 in mid-October and Sprint is said to begin carrying the iPhone 4 as well, starting from that time.

Verizon began selling the iPhone in February this year and Apple loving Sprint customers have been getting mixed signals as to if and when Sprint will begin offering the iPhone. The recent internal memo to employees doesn’t give much information except that employees shouldn’t discuss any iPhone availability on Sprint but can acknowledge seeing the news reports. However the memo also doesn’t instruct employees to deny any of rumors; is non-denial a confirmation? Well October is not far off
